Amazon Prime approached us to develop a gritty yet sophisticated social campaign for their upcoming film Pimpinero: Blood and Oil. I was tasked with leading the design and motion efforts. Given the film’s serious subject matter, my goal was to elevate the tone of the campaign through thoughtful design and motion that reflected the film’s gravity. Additionally, as the entire film is in Spanish, all assets had to be created in both English and Spanish to ensure broad accessibility.

Early in the campaign, I had the opportunity to lead design and motion explorations for the film. With its dark and gritty tone, I aimed to explore various design approaches that would effectively convey the film's serious atmosphere. Specifically, I experimented with frames and borders, using them to crop images in ways that emphasized boundaries being crossed—whether physical, metaphorical, or emotional.

To highlight how each actor brought their character to life, I created split-screen videos that juxtapose scenes from the film with the script, allowing viewers to follow the action and observe the actors' craft in real-time. To represent the progression of the scene, I incorporated the iconography of a gas tank filling up, visually signaling the scene's duration as the audience follows along.
